Job Summary

Assist individuals with their career planning and career development activities. This includes internal and external workshop facilitation, 1:1 job coaching and connecting individuals with job and/or education opportunities. Support the development, evaluation and revision of organizational programming on an ongoing basis. Coordinate client meetings and follow-up activities, input data and case notes. Participate in networking and program development activities in the community to promote the organization’s mission.

Duties and Responsibilities

Workshop Facilitation:

  • Utilizing established curriculum, teach career development workshops. Adapt curriculum, as needed, to keep up to date with hiring practices, employer needs, and student learning styles.

Project Coordination/Implementation:

  • Work with other staff to coordinate and recruit for job trainings that meet our local workforce needs, engage with industry employers, partner agencies, and post-secondary/training institutions to implement the project.

Outreach:

  • Build community awareness and support our programs through presentations, meetings and other outreach events with area employers, educational institutions, etc.

Case Management:

  • Implement assessments and 1:1 services to individuals, helping them explore, develop and advance on their career plan and track client interactions through case noting and data entry.

Data Entry:

  • Ensure required documentation is completed and filed and enter client demographic information, activities and outcomes into database. Pull reports for program/project evaluation purposes.

Professional Development:

  • Actively participate in ongoing development and strength building of team(s) and engage in the responsibilities and privileges of a self-directed work environment.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience working with people of various social-economic-ethnic backgrounds.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of writing resumes and cover letters.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Access); PowerPoint and Publisher.
  • Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
  • Accepts responsibilities and privileges of a self-directed work environment.
  • Able to coordinate multiple activities.
  • Strong interpersonal and mentoring skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology or related field preferred but not required.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in career counseling, case management or related skill.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience with group facilitation, teaching, presenting or related skill.

Physical Requirements

These work environment factors are general in nature: CONSTANT: Sit and near vision. FREQUENT: Bend neck; talk/speak; sit and visual accommodation. OCCASIONAL: Lift and carry up to 10 pounds; rotate neck, static neck position; walk; hear within 5 feet and midrange vision.
