Job Description

Salary: $144,300 - 260,850 per year Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in software or computer engineering (or related technical discipline) from an ABET accredited institute
  • Seventeen (17+) years of relevant work history or fifteen (15+) years of relevant work history with an MS in a related field
  • Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
  • Experience in AI/ML is a plus
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages and technologies
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the software engineering teams, including setting goals, driving technical projects, and ensuring high-quality software development
  • Collaborate with other department leaders to align engineering strategies with company goals
  • Mentor and develop high performing engineering teams
  • Drive innovation and stay abreast of industry trends and advancements
  • Partner with customer, stakeholders, subcontractors, and integrator team members to bring solution options and drive decisions on the way ahead to meet customer needs
  • Collaborate with the HR department to attract, hire, and retain top software engineering talent

Leidos Defense Systems is actively seeking a Chief Software Engineer to join our dedicated team in creating unique solutions for complex problems. The successful candidate will support projects for the Defense Intelligence Community, military, and large prime contractors. The position entails performing systems requirements evaluation, functional studies, timeline analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition, technical management, integration, system testing, and quality assurance. Frequent interaction with the customer through in-process reviews, customer visits, and demonstrations is also part of the role. The selected candidate will need to have a deep technical background, outstanding project management skills, and a passion for driving innovation in software development. Additionally, a familiarity with software development, integration, and test, as well as requirements development and verification, is required, with a modeling and simulation background being a plus. The pay range for this position is $144,300.00 - $260,850.00.
