Job Description

The Dallas Mavericks are seeking a passionate and strategic Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Manager to join our External Affairs team. Reporting to the VP of External Affairs, this role is crucial in developing and executing community-focused initiatives that align with our commitment to education, environment, health & wellness, military & first responders and social justice & racial equity. The ideal candidate will have experience in program delivery, nonprofit management, event planning, community outreach, stakeholder engagement and/or corporate or private philanthropy, with a proven track record of driving measurable outcomes. Key responsibilities include overseeing community initiatives, managing volunteer programs, and measuring the impact of CSR activities. This role will work closely with various departments, including marketing, communications and sponsorship, to promote the Mavericks' commitment to corporate citizenship and community well-being.

JOB FUNCTION:

Community Relations Implement and coordinate Mavericks Corporate Social Responsibility programs including education, environmental, health and wellness, holiday, military and first responder, and social justice and racial equity initiatives. Specialize in Environmental and Health & Wellness initiative planning. Create and maintain relationships with key community stakeholders in community programming. Fulfill and manage league-mandated NBA Cares initiatives through events, programs and social campaigns. Update and recap all community outreach and events through PR/Communication Strategy, Mavs.com, In-Game Assets, Video Production, Sponsorship, Community Partners and annual Community Impact Report. Collaboration and Development Work with VP of External Affairs, Corporate Social Responsibility team members, Youth Basketball and Sponsorship Development and Activation teams to create and develop new community initiatives to create impact and drive revenue. Serve as community liaison to Mavs Employee Resource Groups to create and oversee employee engagement activities and service projects. Schedule programming and event needs with marketing, digital, entertainment and social teams within the organization. Develop detailed reports and analyses of programs that showcase impact for internal and external audiences.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function as well as the following: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, senior management, professional athletes, media, corporate representatives, and diverse community members. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects while meeting deadlines. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Familiarity with North Texas nonprofit organizations and development. Availability to work 40 hours per week, including event/game days, nights, and weekends as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in a related field, preferably in sport management, public relations, journalism, nonprofit management, or marketing. Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in nonprofit or program management work; fundraising experience is preferred.
