Job Description

Job Summary:

The Quality Control Inspection Supervisor is responsible for oversight of the QC Inspection team, ensuring that all products meet the company’s quality standards before they are shipped to customers. The supervisor plans work priorities beyond the day-to-day activities, inspects and authorizes the work of others, makes hiring decisions, and monitors and modifies employee job duties as needed. The role involves monitoring the performance of the QC Inspection team for the various stages of production to ensure compliance with company and industry standards. This position requires attention to detail, technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, and a commitment to maintaining product integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect Products: Manage the team’s inspections processes across multiple projects, including responsibility for generating, modifying, and reviewing the team’s work instructions; and oversight of the inspection checklists and inspection requirements. Support staffing gaps as needed.
  • Safety: Drives appropriate safety culture of the team and adherence to expectations.
  • Training: Establish training plans, checklist, and training matrices for the QC inspection team. Assure that the team is trained in the relevant work instructions. Performs training of the team as appropriate.
  • Documentation: Assure that team completes documentation requirement with data integrity and accuracy, and logs quality-related non-conformances. Maintain detailed reports for use by management and for compliance purposes.
  • Process Monitoring: Monitor production processes to ensure consistency and adherence to approved specifications. Identify potential issues and deviations early in the process. Able to resolve problems to support the QC team and escalate high risk problems to proper personnel. Organize, analyze, and prepare reports on team and product performance.
  • Compliance: Ensure that the team complies with internal quality standards, as well as applicable industry regulations and certifications.
  • Troubleshooting: Assures that the team properly investigates and resolves quality issues by collaborating with production staff and identifying root causes and corrective / preventative actions. Provides guidance and coaching for QC and Operations teams.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead or participate in quality improvement initiatives, suggesting process adjustments and implementing improvements to enhance product quality and reduce waste.
  • Calibration: Ensure all testing and inspection equipment and tools are properly calibrated and maintained.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with production supervision, engineers, logistics, and production teams to maintain quality standards throughout the production cycle.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate degree in quality control, manufacturing, or a related field highly preferred. Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline is a bonus. Significant industry experience (minimum 7 years) can be substituted with High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a quality control or manufacturing environment in the Manufacturing sector. Knowledge of quality control processes and techniques, basic electricity, current flow, and component functionality.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret manufacturing documents, wiring Diagrams, component literature, engineering drawings, and testing procedures.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in inspection and testing procedures.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve quality-related issues effectively.
  • Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly report findings and collaborate with teams.
  • Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job the employee can be expected to stand, walk, sit, reach at or above shoulder level, grip, and use hands to handle and feel for most of a work shift. The employee is frequently required to stoop, lift, carry, push, pull, and grip, and may be required to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and to push/pull up to or greater than 50 pounds with or without accommodation.
