Summary of Job Duties:
The University of Arkansas at Monticello invites applications for the position of Vice Chancellor for University Advancement and Alumni Engagement who will report directly to the Chancellor. The University seeks an experienced advancement professional, preferably in higher education, who will lead advancement activities and fundraising efforts, including management of a major comprehensive campaign, the annual fund, corporate and foundation fundraising opportunities, major gifts and estate planning, alumni relations, and special events.
Duties:
Provide oversight of the UAM Foundation Fund and UAM Alumni Association.
Serve as primary university fundraising officer and alumni relations officer.
Supervise the alumni affairs office and support alumni relations, development, and special projects staff.
Supervise the coordination of UAM Alumni Board functions, meetings, and regional alumni events.
Collaborate with each division and campus to set strategic fundraising priorities and achieve annual goals.
Create and implement a comprehensive fundraising and development program.
Oversee and support the operations of all institutional development-related events, including, but not limited to: scholarship receptions, alumni events, donor recognition, ribbon-cutting ceremonies, and other special events.
Coordinate future University capital campaigns.
Serve as a creative resource in identifying and developing new opportunities for community relations, and stewardship/donor relations activities.
Provide oversight of university historical property operations.
Coordinate UAM Foundation Board meetings and work closely with the UAM Foundation Board of Directors to enhance university advancement activities.
Oversee acquisition of grants and other external funding.
Work closely with the Chancellor, and the senior leadership team, as needed, to achieve advancement and alumni engagement goals.
Ability to travel frequently.
Some evening and weekend work required.
Qualifications:

Knowledge of current fundraising methodology and regulations.
Demonstrated understanding of financial reporting, including target setting, revenue recognition, expenses, budgets, forecasting, income statement, and gap closure.
Understanding of complex real estate and related financial matters.
Knowledge of and commitment to diversity.
Ability and willingness to delegate effectively and to hold direct reports accountable.
Skilled decision-maker, with transparency in decision-making and management.
Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills; exceptional listening and interpersonal skills.
Ability to create a culture of transparency, compliance, collaboration, and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience and demonstrated success in one or more of the key areas of institutional advancement (annual giving, alumni relations, university and community relations, leadership giving, strategic data management), preferably in a college or university setting.
Outstanding proven leadership qualities with the responsibility of working with campus administration to achieve the alumni and development goals of the university
Exceptional relationship-building and influencing skills, as well as strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to supervise and manage personnel and inspire excellence from staff.
Ability to develop a unifying vision for advancement and to make actionable decisions based on input from staff and other key stakeholders.
Possess an understanding of the role of state higher education institutions and an appreciation of the value of active and informed alumni and their roles in the enhancement of the university
The knowledge, ability, and personal attributes necessary to convey to alumni, friends, corporations, foundations, and other contributors the need and benefit of private giving to institutions of public higher education.
Appreciation of the heritage and traditions of the UAM Alumni Association in advancing the university and strongly support its role and mission.
A broad understanding and appreciation of the role the University of Arkansas at Monticello plays in the lives of the citizens of the region.
Ability to develop, cultivate, and maintain purposeful relationships.
Proven organizational and interpersonal skills.
Education:
Masters degree required; terminal degree preferred.
