Description We are looking for a Senior Transmission Line Development Engineer to join our dynamic team in tackling exciting challenges within the electric transmission sector. This is a unique opportunity to make an impact in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will lead electric transmission line design projects, focusing on high-voltage (HV) and extra high-voltage (EHV) overhead and underground systems for some of the largest utility companies across the nation. Key responsibilities include applying NESC, ASCE, ACI, and other relevant standards in the engineering and design of overhead and underground electrical systems, voltage conversion, capacity expansion, and infrastructure replacement projects. You will conduct engineering analyses, prepare bidding documents, draft plans and specifications, and facilitate the procurement and construction documentation processes, collaborating closely with a multi-person Leidos team and interfacing with clients, project planners, environmental specialists, and construction management staff. Work Location: This position is remote, but the successful candidate must reside in Michigan and be open to driving for site visits. Ideal home locations include: Grand Rapids Mt. Pleasant/Big Rapids Muskegon Lansing Jackson Kalamazoo Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in electric utility transmission system design. Experience in reviewing comprehensive transmission line designs, including PLS-CADD models, foundations, material specifications, and construction packages. In-depth knowledge of NESC, ACI, AISC, and ASCE code requirements; along with construction specifications, material procurement processes, project schedules, and construction work packages. Capable of developing project scopes, budgets, and proposals. Ability to work well in a team while also demonstrating independence. Excellent communication skills, both with clients and project teams. Demonstrated leadership experience and the ability to supervise others (essential for Senior and SME levels). Willingness to occasionally work on-site at client offices and travel as needed. Proficiency with software: PLS-CADD, POLE, LPILE or FAD Tools, and Microsoft Office. Preferred Experience: EIT, FE, or Professional Engineer (PE) License. Familiarity with programs such as PLS TOWER, Bentley MicroStation, Bentley ProjectWise, Mathcad, and Autodesk AutoCAD.
